Fighting against the incinerator appeal
As you all know, we work closely with our councillor colleagues and with Richard Holden MP. We have been fighting against the incinerator in Consett since before our election and we were delighted when in September 2021, it was REFUSED.
In the planning committee meeting where it was refused, we as your local councillors asked the applicants to not appeal the decision. Our worst fears have come true and it is their intention to appeal.
We are therefore THRILLED that Richard Holden MP has secured a debate in Parliament about the incinerator on Tuesday 8th March.
We know just about everyone in Consett is still vehemently against these plans and have already told us, the Council, the applicant and the MP. However, ahead of this opportunity to specifically discuss the proposal in parliament, can you please submit your thoughts via Richard’s survey by following this link. He can then use this in his debate to show that we have not changed our views from those already submitted.
