Half term this week so although these #mamsthatcan took some time out with our families, this week we:
  • Were thrilled to support the Joint Administration’s first budget of a 0% core rise in council tax
  • Asked you to share your thoughts on what we should focus our ward funding on via the AAP Priority Survey https://online1.snapsurveys.com/.../908ffbe5-dd3c-43e6...
  • Reminded everyone about the importance of being involved in local issues and asked you to consider becoming a local AAP public rep https://derwentvalleylife.org.uk/.../2676-public...
  • Shared the Fund and Food project info https://derwentvalleylife.org.uk/.../2680-funding-for...
  • Were very disappointed to hear that Project Genesis will be appealing against the incinerator decision. Updates on this will be shared as soon as we get them
  • Don’t forget if you have any wool going spare our local Friendship Group would love to put it to use – they’ll never have enough – drop us a message if you can help

We’ve been busy and shared a lot of information this week – here’s a quick roundup:-
  • We were very proud of our work with our Joint Administration colleagues to propose a 0% core increase in council tax next year
  • We made sure you knew about Gleeson’s request to remove condition 13 from their planning approval so you could submit any objections you might have

  • Shared more local surveys – please take the time to fill them in ; it’s a crucial way to make sure your views are heard
  • Don’t forget the Big Spring Clean event is underway. If you want to do a community litter pick get in touch

This week we:

  • Were thrilled that Richard Holden MP brought up the issues we face around lack of salt bins in Consett in the Westminster Hall debate – it’s important to us so it’s important to him
  • Were delighted to see more good work from our neighbourhood wardens
  • Shared the Mad Alice Theatre Company half term plans – placed are limited so book quickly
  • Attended the virtual school sub committee
  • Caught up with some local residents who asked us to help them with some issues

February already! Six more weeks of winter if Punxsutawney Phil is to be believed #groundhogday
This week we...
  • had a fantastic and positive meeting with our Town and Villages Project Officer and Clean and Green Team Manger to get the ball rolling on actions around dog fouling and litter. Thanks to all of you who sent us information on areas to target
  • showed the officer our wonderful park at Templetown and she agreed goal posts and picnic tables would be a wonderful addition – watch this space for more information about this plan soon
  • Attended the Mountsett Crematorium Joint Committee meeting
  • Met with the new Anti Social Behaviour Champion to hear about what we can do to tackle this
  • Were thrilled to see Templetown Bridge has had a fresh coat of paint
  • Shared the info about the apprenticeship job fair Derwentside College
  • Don’t forget there’s loads of events tomorrow in Durham to celebrate CHINESE NEW YEAR
