Weekly round-up w/b 17th January 2022

A great week which started and ended with our Birthdays – thanks everyone for all your good wishes. Between the birthday cakes, this week we:-

Attended the full council meeting where we rejected recommendations to increase councillor allowances and also called for teachers to be given priority status for future covid vaccinations alongside other key workers – unfortunately our Labour colleagues voted against us on that – you can re-watch the meeting here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yCEAv4BAZo
Attended the AAP Meeting to hear about lots of things including the Consett Destination Development plan
Attended the Corporate Parenting panel which included updates about Durham Council Fostering Service
Highlighted all the fantastic stuff you can do at Consett Afc – more than just football
Shared the Co-opted member vacancy information for the Police and Crime Panel https://www.durham.gov.uk/policeandcrimepanel...
Asked to you to submit your views on library services – submit yours before 1st April https://form.typeform.com/to/j987x7AR...

Another busy one. This week we…

Visited the legend Frank Bell and the team at Consett Afc. As well as football teams and parties, over 1500 people go through the door each week for work training, breakfast clubs, business meetings and loads more. They also offer FREE training in loads of categories. Watch this space for more information about what you can do there
Met with the Kicks Team who run the Youth Club at Delves Lane Village Hall on a Tuesday night
Met with the residents’ group to discuss the Miller proposals at Greenways
Attended the area planning committee (South and West)
Were thrilled with the news that Creative Kitchen were awarded a 5 Star Hygiene rating – you can book a session with them at Crookhall Community Centre

Don’t forget Consett Police are holding and open advice and information session on Saturday 22nd January between 1pm and 3pm in Morrisons Café Consett, pop in to chat about crime prevention, Keep in The Know and off road bikes.

First full working week of 2022 all done ✅
This week we:

Completed some training on the OneNetwork roadwork system – more info on how to access it coming next
Met with some of the team who run the Youth Club in Delves Lane Village Hall to discuss what support we can offer them with their exciting plans
Spoke with residents about issues they would like our help with
Reminded everyone to get their primary school applications in by tomorrow
