It is our mission to be as visible in the local community as possible and with that in mind we have organised our first Meet and Greet session at Delves Lane Village Hall. Come along for a natter and a cuppa (covid permitting) and discuss all things local - we' love to meet as many of you as possible.
Simply show up on Friday 9th July any time from 10:00 to 12:00. - Michelle and Angela

The applicant contacted all local Councillors last Friday (14th May) offering to meet to discuss the issues that have been highlighted by the community through the planning consultation process. Angela and Michelle took up this offer and here are the notes from the meeting we had on Tuesday (18th May).
The applicant contacted all local Councillors last Friday (14th May) offering to meet to discuss the issues that have been highlighted by the community through the planning consultation process. Angela and Michelle took up this offer where we formally asked the applicant to withdraw the planning application.
The applicant declined to do this as they believe in the project and the technology that sits behind it. We then invited them to attend a public consultation to talk through the plans with members of the public and give residents the opportunity to ask questions. They welcome this opportunity. The date of the meeting is to be confirmed but will be soon and we will keep you posted. Register your interest and submit your questions below. You can also read the full contents of the meeting here. As your local councillors, we are dedicated to being visible and keeping you informed about what we're up to. With that in mind we are giving a weekly update on social media and on this blog. It's a little brief run-down, but if you'd like any more information, please just get in touch!
This was our first week after the election and we... ✅ started our training & attended 4 sessions ✅ started to report issues raised by residents during canvassing with Durham County Council including derelict properties causing issues with residents homes and the plans for the Black Diamond pub ✅ met with local residents to assess the fly tipping issue around the Woody Close area ✅ promoted engagement with youth services ✅ kept residents up to date with roadworks, planned and urgent ✅ launched our website www.delves.info ✅ met with Richard Holden MP ✅ had a catch up with all local councillors across NW Durham ✅ arranged meetings with local businesses and the police ✅ were interviewed by the Daily Mail For the first time in over 100 years, the Labour Party has lost its majority on Durham County Council!
Labour began the election with 68 Labour councillors, but suffered huge losses, leading to their loss of overall control. The Conservatives now have 24 seats, gaining 14 - 6 of which were in North West Durham where we have gone from zero conservative councillors - we are so proud to be two of them! Below is a breakdown of the votes and you can see the results ward-by-ward on the Durham County Council website. We are thrilled, humbled and honoured to have been elected as your councillors for Delves Lane.
This is a first for our ward. Labour have held their position here since the ward was created. But no more. We are so grateful you have given us the chance to represent you. We have some big plans on how we will reach out to you all - this website being the very first step! We want to be visible and active in the local community, making your daily lives that little bit better. From helping you get the little things done like refuse collection through to representing your views on the BIG things, we will be with you all the way as your local champions. THANK YOU for giving us this chance to represent you. - Michelle & Angela |
