This is what we’ve been up to this week...
✅ Encouraged everyone to nominate locations in our ward to win 2,000 bulbs to help spruce up our villages ✅ Promoted Richard Holden MP’s first free to attend vjobs fair event on 17th September at Derwentside College, over 30 employers attending ✅ Shared Delves Lane Village Hall timetable of events including the fabulous luncheon club on Wednesdays – ring to book ✅ Continued working with our fly tipping awareness project ✅ Were delighted that the Planning Department have recommended refusal of the incinerator plans ✅ As always, helped residents with a whole host of issues resolving some and still working on others ✅ Here's a throwback photo from before the election...

We’ve had an awesome week, thanks to all who helped!
✅ Met with the Traffic Management Officer from Durham Constabulary to discuss traffic calming measures in Templetown ✅ Met with DCC Outdoor Facilities Co-ordinator James and many local children who voted for their favourite choice of park plan for Allensford Country Park ✅ Met with Mark from the Fly Tipping Investigation Team to help us tackle the issue at Woody Close woods. Did you know that disposing of garden waste in such areas is classed as fly tipping? Watch this space as we’ll be sharing more information in a few days’ time ✅ Met with representatives from Delves Lane Methodist Church and found out more about their amazing Street Friends project ✅ Liaised between the Say No To Consett Incinerator and Hownsgill Energy Centre to get more questions answered ✅ Asked many questions about the planned Persimmon Homes development on behalf of local residents ✅ Discussed plans for Crookhall garages with DCC ✅ Attended a Conservative Women's event (CWO North East)and made some great plans to enhance our group ✅ Helped local residents with a whole host of issues including dog bins, fly tipping, antisocial behaviour, overhanging trees and refuse collection Another productive week and this time with LOADS of updates about the play facilities in and around Consett!
✅ Met with James, DCC outdoor facilities coordinator to discuss your ideas for additions to Templetown play park – some great plans coming soon! ✅ Had confirmation that Blackhill park play area is NOW OPEN ✅ Heard all about the confirmed plans to complete the works at Consett Tennis court/Basketball court starting 6th September (delayed due to material supply chain issues) ✅ Confirmed that next week we will be consulting with locals on the options for plans at ALLENSFORD playpark – keep an eye here for updates ✅ Met with local residents to discuss issues and concerns around local new housing estate plans ✅ Had a video meeting with the Royal British Legion to hear more about the work they do in supporting veterans and their families and how we can be a part of it https://www.britishlegion.org.uk/ Another fabulous week
✅ Met with the Traffic Management Officer from Durham Constabulary to get her views and professional advice on our road safety ideas ✅ Reported playpark damage and got a lightening quick resolution from Durham County Council Environment Division ✅ Encouraged anyone bereaved by suicide to sign up to a six week programme offered by Holding Hope at Delta ✅ Were thrilled that The Oasis Cafe had a successful opening week ✅ Met with Brian and the Team at Consett Heart - Heritage and Arts Centre to hear about their fantastic plans for this venue and confirmed that we would allocate some of our Derwent Valley Partnership - AAP funding to support the project ✅ Met with The Crookhall Foundation to discuss their plans for the future and to offer our support ✅ Attended a social event to thank ALL of our supporters who helped us when we were campaigning. Thank you Richard Holden MP ✅ As always, kept our residents at the core of everything we do and helped with issues including overgrown hedges, unemptied bins, test and trace support payments and planning applications. |
