Happy Saturday everyone! We’ve had a lovely week, aside from getting soaked! This is what we’ve been up to…
  • Attended the remembrance service and parade in Consett
  • Discussed the proposed boundary changes, if you would like to have your day please email [email protected]
  • Attended the Children’s and Young People’s Scrutiny Committee at County Hall
  • Chaired the committee meeting at #CrookhallCommunityCentre There are LOTS of interesting things going on there from cooking classes to kids to art group and bingo! Please do continue to support the centre!
  • We will be conducting some resident surveys in the coming weeks to find out what issues really matter to you

Another busy week! This week we…

  • Attended the Economy & Enterprise Committee at County Hall
  • Took part in a visit to Derwentside IRC
  • Attended the Derwentside AAP meeting
  • Voted on a lot of improvements in the Highways Committee
  • Shared the disappointing plans from the boundaries commission
  • Spent the full day today out and about in our ward helping residents with lots of different issues. It was a pleasure to meet everyone and we’ll do our best!

We’ve loved the colours we’ve seen around our ward now that autumn is well underway. This week we:

  • Were thrilled to see the huge efforts made by the trick or treaters – some fantastic costumes – well done to everyone who took part
  • Attended some DCC meetings as well as an AAP task group meeting – reminder that everyone can get involved with the AAP meetings and decision making – next meeting Wednesday 9th November 6pm in the Salvation Army Hall, Consett
  • Reminded everyone about Delves Lane post office closing on 8th November, shop unaffected.
  • Finally just a polite reminder as its fireworks weekend, please stay safe

The last week of term and it’s been another busy one. Quick summary of what we’ve been up to this week:

  • Attended the committee meeting at Crookhall Community Centre
  • Attended the full Council Meeting where we supported Cllr Cathy Hunt's motion for tighter controls around nitrous oxide and Councillor Joe Quinn motion for quicker access to support from housing associations for residents
  • Attended the Corporate Parenting Meeting
  • Let you know about the temporary closure of Delves Lane post office
  • Shared the County Durham and Darlington Road Safety Strategy 2022-2032 and the Corporate Parenting Annual Report
  • We’ll be enjoying some family time next week as it’s half term.
  • Hope you all have a great week and don’t forget there’s loads of free activities on at Crookhall Community Centre - check out their page for details of what's on and how to book.

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our week! This is what we’ve been up to…

  • Attended the Highways Committee at County Hall
  • Joined in with the Crookhall Community Centre BINGO night - we’d LOVE to see you at the next one!
  • We get LOTS of request to help with hedges, bushes and grass cutting so today we invited a VIP to Delves Lane…the portfolio holder from the council toured hot spots in our ward and we’re looking forward to seeing the results soon
  • Popped in to meet a few residents from across our ward. It was a pleasure to meet you
  • Hosted our first PACT Meeting with Consett Police and our Durham County Council Neighbourhood Wardens - North and met some lovely residents for a chat and to hear their issues - we’re already actioning points raised. Thanks to all who attended
  • Chatted to local youth group Foundation of Light and visited the beautiful garden they recently created

This week we have a second update for you after attending the Conservative Party Conference for the first time. We didn’t spend much time on national politics as our aim was to make connections and hear about issues that affect the residents in our ward. Here’s a little snapshot of what we were up to…

  • Attended the Centre for Social Justice event “The Children of Lockdown – where are they now?” to hear what we can do as councillors to help
  • Chatted about Guide Dogs UK and current issues they are campaigning for (and of course loved cuddling the doggies!)
  • Attended the Generation Strain event about offering a bright economic future for young and old. We heard from Richard Walker CEO of Iceland Foods about what they are doing in local communities along with Bim Afolami MP and David Willets
  • Spoke to Barclays Eagle Labs about local services and how they can support local businesses and women in business
  • Chatted to NatWest about business support
  • Attended The Road Haulage Association seminar “The critical role of road haulage in the UK supply chain” to hear about the challenges faced in transport of goods today. Elddis Transport, we’re trying to get better roadside trucker services for everyone but in particular your drivers
  • Heard from the Conservative Police and Crime Commissioners with Forensic Analytics about community drug issues and the effects on families, communities and local services
  • Worked with the Conservative Women's Organisation - UK and the Conservative Councillors' Association to help support more #mamsthatcan in particular into local government
  • Spoke to various people, including Meta about legislation to protect our children online
  • Chatted to the teacher’s union National Education Union about supporting local schools and teachers
  • Attended the seminar on achieving educational targets for our schools led by the Education Policy Institute and Association of School and College Leaders
  • Enjoyed hearing from Dr. Frank Luntz across a number of panels
  • Caught up with Lanchester Conservative Councillors and local MPs Richard Holden MP Dehenna Davison Jake Berry MP Paul Howell MP for Sedgefield Peter Gibson MP

This is what we’ve been up to this week and a little heads up about an important event next week:

  • Sent out some AAP funding forms to support local organisations with they're Christmas plans
  • Attended Children and Young People's Overview and scrutiny committee where we submitted the Corporate Parenting Panel annual report
  • Come and meet us along with local police at our PACT meeting next Friday 1-3pm at Delves Lane Village Hall The focus of this meeting to traffic and we’d love to hear your concerns and share with you some exciting developments for our community. You don’t need to attend the full thing, you’re more than welcome to pop in, hope to see you there!

  • Attended Full Council at County Hall where councillors shared their memories of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
  • Attended the Derwentside AAP meeting
  • Took part in the Children and Young People’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee
  • Visited Citizen’s House for their amazing relaunch event. If you’re free this evening do pop in!
  • Met all of the children, parents and volunteers at Delves Lane Methodist Church “Messy Church” event. The children had great fun doing all kinds of activities with tea provided. Get in touch if you’d like to attend the next one!
